The Refill function is used to refill prescriptions for individual patients. The system keeps track of each prescription for the number of refills it is allowed. The number of refills is set with the original prescription.  Each display of a patient's dispensed medication list, includes the remaining refill number. All clinical edits are performed when refills are done.

To refill prescriptions using a worklist, the Fill Request function allows you to select the prescriptions to be refilled or that need to be called for refill authorization based on the Next Fill Date. Once the parameters are set and if there are refills, each prescription can be refilled in rapid sequence after viewing the detail screen.

The Future Refill option is used to request refills for the future. The Dispense date field can be changed to the date the refill is needed allowing you to refill prescriptions ahead of time with the correct Dispense date. No charging is done when the Future Refill is done. When the date arrives for the Future refills to be Dispensed and charged, the Authorize Refill function is used.
