Day of Appointment

On the day of an appointment, you can record when the patient arrived for the appointment. When the patient completes the appointment, you can check out the patient, record diagnosis codes and enter other information relevant to the appointment.

PiMS scheduling provides functions to automate the arrive-in and checkout process. When you arrive in or check out a patient, the system automatically changes the appointment’s status. PiMS provides three options for managing patient flow on the day of appointment:

  • Check In  As the patient arrives at the front desk they can be 'checked in'. This records the patient's arrival time. Also, if the PiMS Registration module is implemented, a visit can be recorded using the check in function.
  • Check-Out  After the visit, the patient can be 'checked out'.  Check out records the time of departure and notes which clerk performed the check out.  Also, if the PiMS Registration module is implemented, a visit can be recorded and charges automatically posted using the check out function.
  • Arrive-In *  The'arrive in' function performs both check in and check out using one function. This all in one function can be used instead of the separate check in and check out functions. A patient must be completely registered in order for the arrive-In function to complete.
