Order Components

An order profile is comprised of one or more order components. These order components are the events that are actually scheduled into a resource's calendar. The order component describes specific behavior of the service, such as the duration of the component.Duration is the length of time in minutes that it will take for a service to be completed. For example, an x-ray might take 60 minutes, and a return visit with a doctor could take 30 minutes.

Each order component has its own entry in the order component profile. The order component references which resource to book into.

Multiple order profiles can contain a reference to the same resource via an order component and specify different defaults. For example, a physician may have two types of appointments that can be scheduled, a new patient appointment that requires a 60 minute duration for the service, and a return patient appointment that requires 30 minutes, plus an additional resource for 30 minutes. Two order profiles are defined and both contain an order component profile that refers to the same resource. One order component Profile has a 60 minute duration. The other order component Profile has a 30 minute duration, plus an additional order component that refers to another resource.
