Orders
An appointment is a request for service to be rendered for a patient on a specific date and time at a physicians office or clinic. To PiMS Scheduling, an appointment is equivalent to any type of order, or request for service.
Just as a resource profile is set up to describe a particular resource, an order profile is set up to generally describe an order for service. A request for an appointment starts from what is set up in the order profile. An order profile can be a request for a physicalexam, a laboratory test, or a request for transport facilities.
An appointment, or order, consists of one or more components. For example, an appointment can consist of a service component and a component for a physician. Each component relates to a particular resource defined in the resource profile.
Each of the components that
make up the order need to be scheduled in coordination with other
components. PiMS Scheduling
automatically handles this during the scheduling process.
After adding an order, the Order Components must be added. Refer to Order Components for more information.
