Resources

PiMS Scheduling is used to schedule resources. A resource is anything that provides a service to a patient. A resource can be a piece of equipment, a physician, a nurse, even an examination room. Each of these resources maintains certain hours of operation, may work in conjunction with another resource, and may have special requirements regarding its schedule.

Each resource to be managed by PiMS Scheduling is set up in a resource profile. The resource profile describes the resource and generic information regarding the resource. Picture the resource profile as an empty appointment book. If the resource is a physician, the appointment book would have the physician’s name and office location on the cover, along with other general information about the appointment book. If the resource is a piece of equipment, the location of the equipment and who handles it would be listed in that appointment book.

When adding a resource, PiMS automatically starts the Add Resource Availability function. Refer to Resource Availabilities for more information.
